The Garage is an exhibition and art making space.

Garage – Community Art Projekt 17th July – 28th August 2021

A garage is often more than just a storage space. It can be a refuge from the daily routine, a place where likeminded people get together in the enjoyment of making and tinkering. We found inspiration in this garage spirit and thus use a garage as headquarter of our art exhibition project. Our location is at the ‘International House’ of University of Montana near the Clark Fork river (Madison Street Bridge) and the Adams Center. The garage is a space where you could come by, look at art, collect inspiration and if you like join us in making artistic projects together with international artists. We work with artists form Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Taiwan through virtual exchange.

Bastian Hoffmann (Germany) shows his works in the form of video-tutorials. You can learn e.g. how to turn your workspace into a sheet of paper. (www.bastian-hoffmann.com). Inspired by the 16th-century German naturalist book “Codex Kentmanus,” I-Chen Lai’s (Taiwan) collective mapping project “Botanical Encounter” invites everyone to draw, print, and share their stories of meeting plants. You can join at the Garage and online under wwww.botanical-encounter.com! (www.laiichern.com). Nicolas Vionnet (Switzerland) & Wouter Sibum (Netherlands) create a temporary sculptural intervention that highlights history and hidden potential of a specific public space in Missoula. You can join us in developing and building the work if you like (www.nicolasvionnet.ch) (www.woutersibum.com).
